Elizabeth Knox Retirement Home and Hospice

Designing a simple and economical structure

Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital is located in Epsom, Auckland. We designed the complete structure for a new two-storey retirement home and hospice complex. This is being constructed whilst the home and hospital are still in use and required some temporary enabling works to be done.

Benefits of having us on the team:

  • We developed a simple structural solution that will be quick and economical to build.
  • We realised there were a number of issues with existing underground services including a 600mm sewage pipe across the site that could have posed complications for design if not resolved at an early stage. We raised these with the wider team and proposed a simple and cost saving solution to overcome them.
  • We built good strong relationships with the architect, client and other consultants, working together with a focus on best-for-project outcomes.
