Creating three-storey apartments within a two-storey height boundary.
These two architecturally designed apartment buildings, in the heart of Whangamata, are set out over three levels. Each building contains a major and minor unit, allowing for rental income or space for the extended family. The ground floor comprises a garage and the minor apartment, with open-plan living spaces on the second storey and bedrooms on top.
The apartments feature a concrete block basement and concrete first floor, supporting a two-storey timber structure with some structural steel above.
