More than ten years of engineering work across New Zealand and Europe have equipped John Pfluke with the ability to transform complex ideas into practical, well-crafted structures. He brings a meticulous and collaborative approach to every project—working closely with architects, builders, and clients to achieve designs that are both innovative and buildable.
John’s passion lies in teamwork and precision. He believes great results come from open communication and careful coordination across the whole project team. His hands-on involvement continues through construction, ensuring design intent is maintained and any on-site challenges are resolved efficiently. Project Highlights

  • Tauranga Wharewaka – Design of a new waterfront building to house and showcase traditional Māori waka, featuring cross-laminated timber panels and glulam portal frames.
  • Tauranga Art Gallery – Seismic strengthening and refurbishment to enhance the safety and usability of the existing gallery.
  • Aquinas College – Structural design and monitoring for a new classroom block for 250 students using mass timber and steel for a sustainable, cost-effective result.
  • The Clubhouse, Queenstown – Design of a new two-storey timber apartment building built atop an existing carpark.
  • Kinloch Village Centre – Design of three new buildings including retail, café, and grocery spaces.
  • Port of Tauranga, Hato Hone St John Waihi, Fonterra Hāwera – Seismic upgrades and essential-service infrastructure.
  • International Projects – Engineering work in Germany and the UK, including contributions to the 1 Leadenhall skyscraper in London.
