Platform 8 is located within the vaulted lobby of the historic Grand Central railway station in Downtown Auckland. We were engaged to engineer the fit out of this amazing heritage space.

• We had to be innovative as we couldn’t make permanent connections to the heritage stone walls and mosaic floors, which meant bar, pergola and seating elements had to be self-stabilising.     

• We specified materials that were readily available to enable quick construction while being sympathetic to the character of the building.

• The project was completed in eight weeks, with the structural elements taking a total of just two weeks.
