Senior Structural Draftsperson – Revit Technician, Auckland

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Structural Drafter/Revit Technician to join our business.  Our current team of draftees have many years of valuable drafting experience within NZ and overseas, and we use the latest versions of Revit to create detailed 3D models from which we generate structural engineering drawings of the buildings and sculptures we are helping to design and document.

We are looking for someone who understands the NZ building industry well, and who can play a key role in efficiently providing modelling, drafting and documentation services as part of the design team servicing our clients, ensuring our clients enjoy a seamless design process that is accurate, timely and on budget.

Key attributes, skills and accountabilities:

  • A minimum of 10 years of New Zealand based Structural Drafting experience and have a proven ability to lead the drafting on projects.

  • We are a Revit based practice and so a strong working knowledge of Revit software is essential. Familiarity with AutoCAD would be an advantage.

  • Have a good understanding of construction techniques, materials and products commonly used in the commercial and residential sectors in New Zealand.

  • Able to manage your time effectively between 3D modelling and 2D detailing.

  • You will have a strong eye for detail and take pride in the quality and accuracy of the drawings you produce.

  • You will be able to visualize what you are drawing and be confident developing structural details with limited input from others.

  • At times, you will be directing other drafters working on the same project, so you must be able to work collaboratively and provide others with an appropriate degree of guidance and oversight.

  • You will be confident at creating out-line drawing lists for projects and be able to estimate the drafting time/effort required against such lists.

  • You need to have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to confidently represent yourself and Structure Design at project meetings with both internal and external parties.

  • As part of our Quality Assurance and quality processes you will review your own work before passing it on to others. At times you will be involved in reviewing the work of other drafters.

  • You will be required to work to the companies BIM and drafting standards while contributing to the ongoing improvement of internal systems and procedures.

  • Preferably you will have a formal qualification related to Engineering or Construction.

  • You must be eligible to work in New Zealand / hold the appropriate immigration status.

What Structure Design offer

  • A challenging, supportive and rewarding environment where you can take real ownership of the projects you work on,

  • The chance to work on interesting and innovative building projects (mainly in the Auckland region) in collaboration with some of New Zealand’s leading Architectural practices,

  • A supportive and nurturing team of experienced Structural modellers/drafters and Structural Engineers who are happy to share their knowledge and help you further develop your skills and experience,

  • The opportunity to get out on site from time to time to see the projects you work on being built,

  • Working alongside the Company Directors on projects and being able to share your ideas with them,

  • Professional development and training,

  • A competitive salary package and other benefits.

The close-knit team at Structure Design relies on strong collaboration and is made up of people from a diverse range of backgrounds.  We are looking for someone who can work individually and as part of a team, who is proud to represent the Structure Design brand, who is client focused and professional and able to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  If you have the qualities, experience and passion to enrich the Structure Design team, then we would like to hear from you.
