JERVOIS ROAD APARTMENTS:

ACHIEVING THE DEVELOPER’S VISION THROUGH INNOVATIVE STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

This six-storey mixed use apartment block features shops on the ground floor, with five floors of high-end luxury apartments above. It also includes three basement levels. We were engaged to undertake the full structural design.

Benefits of having us on the team:
  • The client wanted to maximise the number of floors within height limits. There were several structural challenges involved in this. We helped them achieve this by designing a slim structure using composite beams with bespoke end connections. This also created large open spaces within the apartments that are largely uninterrupted by columns and allow for large windows and doors to take advantage of the views. The client wanted to maximise their floor area within height-to-boundary limits, which means that column positions had to be stepped as you move up the north elevation. By hiding a transfer truss between intertenancy walls, we have maximised the floor area available for living areas and balconies overlooking the harbour. We worked closely with the architect to design architecturally exposed steel elements and curved aluminium balcony screens as key elements of the architecturally designed façade.
