DRAFTEE

Drafting team manager with 6 years structural engineering, 12 years drafting and 2 years on-site construction experience. I have worked in lead CAD design roles at SMEC New Zealand and AECOM as well as in the hydro-power and power distribution sectors.

My role is multi-faceted and involves high-level project initiation, input into execution plans, workflows and BIM modelling, working alongside the lead engineer and project director.

I look after the day-to-day management of resources and the quality aspects of drafting and I am involved in hands on project modelling: offering high level assistance and helping out where required.

I enjoy the accuracy and precision of drafting, which I view as a craft. It’s about thinking about how things fit together/spatial arrangements and conveying this information in a clear and concise manner.

You will benefit from my strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. I visualise details and identify possible interface issues, proactively highlight these and work with other project stakeholders to overcome them.

My structural engineering background means that I understand structural systems and load paths and I have a good awareness of what is structurally critical and what is less important. Combining this with my considerable drafting experience ensures that I can implement the Engineer’s design considerations into the structural documentation with clarity.

If you choose to work with us, you’ll find we offer one of the highest levels of service you’ll find anywhere in New Zealand and are more flexible and approachable than many of our competitors. You’ll have direct access to the people doing your work.

Work highlights have included:
  • Working in the Tocopilla power station in Chile. I designed two large structures to US codes and stringent seismic requirements.
  • Drafting 80% of the New World supermarket in Mt Roskill for Foodstuffs. This building had complicated roof arrangements at the main entrance as well as very prescriptive back of house layout requirements.
  • Working on the Maris Stoplogs in the Philippines, which were technically complex and involved working within the numerous constraints of the existing structures and minimising disruption to the ongoing operation of the Weir. The Stoplogs are large moving structures which had interesting mechanical and hydraulic design considerations.
Interests:

I enjoy playing tennis, practicing yoga and family time.
