Brad Walker

ENGINEER

Senior structural engineer with more than 14 years' experience in New Zealand and the UK. Over the years I have been involved with all types of construction materials, and keep well informed about the latest techniques and products.

My role is to help the architect and end-client achieve their vision through smart structural design. It’s also to ensure that our solution is buildable within your required timeframe and budget.

Having worked on a number of different types of building from medium-rise residential, hotels and mixed use commercial and residential through to sports and leisure, schools and universities, I know the importance of close coordination with other project team members including consultants, the architect and the builder.

That’s why I respond quickly to queries, communicate clearly and deliver work on time.

My good understanding of geometrical space means I can anticipate and identify likely complexities that need to be considered, early on in a project.

I have a solid background in structural design and project management including particular skills in reinforced concrete and steel framed structures. I will help you to identify the best materials for your project.

If you choose to work with me you can expect me to find structural solutions to make the design work, to respond in a timely fashion and to get on with my work.

Work highlights have included:
  • Undertaking structural design for the Rita Flynn Netball Stadium, a $30m international level facility in Papua New Guinea, developed for the 2015 Pacific Games. We delivered a complex structure under really tight time pressure against all odds. Because of this, the then Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill, dubbed it the ‘miracle stadium’.
  • Designing the structure for two apartment blocks - I was able to build ideas from the first project into the second, which meant the structure went up easily and the builders were happy.
  • Helping replace the old South Stand at Twickenham.
Interests:

I enjoy spectator sports, cooking and outdoor activities with my family.
